Net Zero Emissions

Marillo Foods Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030 for emissions scopes 1 and 2.

This ambition further extends to achieving Net Zero emissions within scope 3, by 2045, which includes: upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel and employee commuting.

We have measured our scope 1 (direct) and scope 2 emissions (indirect) for the year ending 31 March 2026 which equate to 0.1KtCO2e and 2.64 KtCO2e respectively. Our scope 3 emissions, across our supply chains, are calculated as 2230.72 KtCO2e over the base year of 2023.

When comparing the 2023 base year to 2026, a reduction in carbon emissions for both scope 1 and 2 has been achieved from the implemented changes (20% and 4% respectively). Scope 3 has increased overall by around 2% but this is due to an increase in activities as we are still working successfully towards net zero across our operations

by 2045.

The commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions, by the prescribed timescales, was made on 26 March 2024 by the Directors and is approved as a continuing aim annually as part of the target monitoring and reporting process.

Marillo Foods Limited is pleased to have completed the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. The Assessment is a self-assessment and reporting tool supporting us to understand our alignment with NHS sustainability priorities and identify those areas in which we need to accelerate progress.

The Evergreen Assessment is one of several NHS initiatives designed to support its net zero and wider sustainability ambitions, including those set out in the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap.
